Series

Phasuthorn Bamrungphuej’s practice explores psychological presence within constructed environments. Across recurring figures such as Akira, Kettlr, and their companion forms, the work examines states of solitude, emotional transition, and quiet endurance.

Rather than depicting specific narratives, the paintings create suspended atmospheres — spaces where stillness carries tension and transformation unfolds subtly.

Through repetition of character and variation of setting, the body of work becomes an evolving meditation on awareness, vulnerability, and the fragile continuity of being.

A reflective body of work influenced by migration, cultural memory, and emotional displacement. These pieces explore atmosphere, distance, and identity through character-based storytelling.

Unsent, Kawaguchiko [TJ02]

A quiet moment unfolds beside a red postbox in Kawaguchiko. Akira hesitates, peeking from behind the box, while Kettlr patiently holds a letter that has not yet been sent. The scene captures the fragile pause before a decision—the small space between intention and action.

Akira at Dajia Station

2026 Acrylic on canvas, 50 × 70 cm.

A high-speed train rushes toward Taipei as lanterns drift across the evening sky above Dajia Station. Akira pauses on the platform, suspended in a fleeting moment between movement and stillness.

This series explores undefined environments where Akira and Kettlr exist beyond specific geography or narrative. The spaces become psychological thresholds — suspended, quiet, and charged with unspoken tension.

Akira at Tabi Café

2026 Oil on canvas, 40 × 50 cm

A quiet place between destinations, where stillness holds something familiar. A gentle reminder that not every journey needs to be understood, some moments are simply meant to be felt.

Akira, In Between Silence

2025 Acrylic painting on canvas, Size 30 x 40 c.m.

A moment where a human being pauses between looking forward Akira pauses between forward and inner silence, barefoot on the shore, pointing toward a distant future. Behind him, Kettlr quietly watches, not the world, but Akira.

Scenes of Stillness explores solitary presence within shifting environments. Through the recurring figure of Kettlr, the series examines psychological continuity, endurance, and quiet awareness amid changing spatial atmospheres. Stillness becomes not absence, but a form of sustained presence.

Kettlr: The 10th Anniversary

2024 Acrylic painting on canvas, Size 30 x 40 c.m.

Ten years, held in a quiet gathering. Simple moments, gently enduring.

The Akira Dragonfly Series centers on Akira as a recurring psychological figure navigating inner and outer landscapes. He appears at times alone, at times beside Akari — a companion presence that suggests shared emotional space rather than reflection.

In selected works, Akira transforms into a winged form. The dragonfly becomes a symbol of fragility, awareness, and emotional evolution — a quiet shift between vulnerability and transcendence.

Akari in the Tomato Garden [AD01]

Akari appears in a quiet tomato garden, wearing a helmet and gloves, not for battle, but for courage. The word on her helmet was meant to say Fight (ファイト), yet it reads ファトイ instead. This small imperfection reflects how love is often fought for: awkwardly, gently and never perfectly, but sincerely. (Akari — a fairy girl from the Dragonfly Akira series.)
